Florida

We just spent a wonderful, relaxing week in New Smyrna Beach, Florida! All of our summer pictures, including Glen's birthday, the zoo, Florida, and others, are uploaded to my snapfish account. If you would like a link and didn't recieve one, send me an email!

We spent a day taking the water taxi across the Ponce Inlet. We ate lunch at a seafood place on the water, then took a short walk to visit the lighthouse. It's 170 feet and 203 steps to the top! Daddy carried Glen the whole way!

W also visited the marine science center near the lighthouse. It rescues sea turtles and birds that are injured by boats. (Sea World has a manatee rescue.)

This is a sign we saw while on the water taxi.

Glen absolutely loves the ocean. He spent most of his time walking back and forth from the sand to the water.

We also got to see the shuttle launch of Endeavor since we were only about 30 miles north of Cape Canaveral. The video didn't really turn out, but the sound was awesome! We could see it until the booster separation, then got to experience it a second time as the sound finally reached us. It wasn't incredibly loud, but the rumble made the ground shake a bit! The shuttle launch had been scrubbed Sat-Tues because of thunderstorms in the evenings, but Wednesday it finally worked!

We also went to Sea World. Glen really liked the night Shamu show and the dolphin show which included divers and acrobats. He actually got 2 naps and we made it until the 10 pm fireworks!

At Sea World, you can pet Stingrays (the dark shape on the left of this pic). Glen wanted to go swim with them! We spent quite a bit of time here because the expected afternoon rainstorm hit while we were under this canopy. We also ate lunch with the sharks, saw a few more shows, and rode the new coaster "Manta."

On the trip home, we actually had a flight get cancelled, so ended up flying through both Atlanta and Chicago to get home 12 hours later than scheduled. The good part about this was that we got to spend a couple hours with Lisa, Brad, and Ethan in Chicago! It's good to be home, but our trip was way too short. :-)
